HISTORY IN DATCA
History comes to life on the Datça Peninsula with its roots dating back to 2000 BC. These lands, whose first settlers were the Carian people, experienced their brightest era during the Dorian period. Knidos, one of the shining cities of the ancient world, draws attention as a unique center where trade, culture and art intertwined.
Today’s Datça, which was renamed “Reşadiye” by the order of Sultan Reşad in 1909, was reunited with its real name with the Republic. Today, a new historical scene is unearthed every day in the excavation areas around Knidos, Burgaz and Sarı Liman. It is possible to discover traces of the past in every stone of Datça.
